Christmas is two months away, and a few people have asked about packages lately, so we thought we’d put together a little Q & A informational for those who might be interested:
Q: What is your mailing address?
Seth and Rochelle Callahan
c/o New Tribes Mission
PO Box 1079
Goroka EHP 441
Papua New Guinea
Q: How long does it take for a package to get to you?
When things go smoothly, it often takes about three weeks for something to reach us from the States. Sometimes it can take a few weeks longer. (That is how long it takes for a package to reach our mission center. It won’t head out to the bush where we are until the next helicopter flight comes our way.)
Q: What are good package ideas?
- Freeze dried fruit
- Peanut M&Ms
- Reese’s Pieces
- Gum
- Candy canes
- Stickers
- Balloons
- Pictures and hand-written notes
- Fun-size bags of cheezits
- Flavored hot chocolate
- Craft projects
- Fruity tea
- Flavored almonds
Q: Is there anything that I SHOULDN’T send in a package?
- Sucking candy (We try to watch the boys’ daily sugar intake, so these often melt before they get eaten.)
- Jerky (We love it, but meat isn’t not allowed through customs.)
- Toys (We’re trying to keep things simple…Legos would be a happy exception though.)
- Stuffed animals (They’re cute, but the boys already have a lot of these.)
- Seeds (Again, cool, but not allowed.)
Q: Shipping things overseas is expensive. Is it lame if I just send something little?
Receiving a package or a note is quite the family highlight, and we’re always super excited when we get one! The size, or value of what’s inside, doesn’t really matter. Getting ANYTHING from America is fun!
