It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already been back in Papua New Guinea for one week now! Jet lag has pretty much worn off, though we still wake up a little early and are pretty well bushed by 8:30 PM. (Living in the tropics just tends to encourage an early bedtime for some reason.)

We weren’t entirely sure what emotions we would feel upon our return here after our five months in the States. The last time we arrived here had been our first encounter with PNG, and everything was fairly intimidating/scary. We didn’t know the language, we didn’t get the culture, and even the littlest undertakings were super awkward.

Sure there’s still a lot that we don’t understand over here, and we’re still uncomfortable at times, but we know enough to get around and not feel like total ninnies. It was fun for us to realize that we didn’t have an abundance of negative emotions when we got off the plane this time. By and large we were just excited!

The boys have been adjusting better than we’d even allowed ourselves to hope (thanks in large part to the fact that their two best friends have been out of the bush and living a stone’s throw away on our mission center), and we’ve been able to jump back in just about where we left off last April!

Already, we’ve been able to put together a small work team to finish up our house, and we’ve begun packing up the last of our things to prepare for our move into the bush in three weeks! That’s right, we’re planning on actually moving into our village in THREE WEEKS!!

Feel free to continue praying for our family as we work to get our ducks in a row for our next big move. Three month’s worth of groceries don’t just buy and ship themselves, you know? (And, you may have noticed in the picture above, we still have some packing to do…)

[Editor’s Note: This post was supposed to go up a week ago, but I had a few issues getting it to post properly.]
